Hiawatha, IA (June 22, 2009)- Crystal Group Inc., a veteran-owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices announced today superior test results from their SS11 rugged sealed server.
Crystal Group tested an extended shock and vibration configuration of their SS11 model for performance in harsh environments. Previous testing for the server had incorporated submersion in water for over 192 hours.
Dynamic testing performed at the Nebraska Center for Excellence in Electronics included shock testing conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-810F. The test levels were 45G @ 11 mS, ½ sine in each of the 3 axes. Vibration testing was also conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-810F. The test levels were 5.9 g RMS, 5- 500 Hz with a random- on-random profile, for a duration of 60 minutes per axis, in each of the 3 axes.
In addition, EMI testing conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-461F: CE102 and RE102 exceeded performance expectations by passing the tests with significant margin. The Crystal SS11 Sealed Server is an embedded 2.16 GHZ, T7400 Core™ 2 Duo product with a full height PCI slot and a mini-PCI slot, 3 GB of RAM and two 2.5’’ removable hard drive bays. The fan- less server allows for quiet operations, and is tested to extreme ambient conditions. The server offers all aluminum construction with custom EMI gasketing to seal the server chassis. I/O is facilitated through quick locking mil-circular connectors. Convection cooling enables an extended temperature range of -30 °C up to 55 °C, with a -40 °C SSHDD option. Cold-plate mounting is available for higher temperature environments. The SS11 is designed to meet MIL-STDs 810F, 461E, 464A, 704E and 1275D requirements. The SS11 Sealed Server offers immersion protection rated to IP68.
