Crystal Group Inc. Announces Advanced Density Tesla C2075 in Rugged Server Line
08-28-12
Hiawatha, Iowa — Crystal Group Inc., an employee owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-designed computers, displays, networking devices, embedded systems, and storage devices, is pleased to announce an improved computational density is available in the RS line of rugged servers using GP/GPU technologies.
The nVidia offers highly integrated architecture that promises to boost performance faster than adding an additional CPU. Each nVidia Tesla C2075 card is built for performance purposes. Crystal Group has been providing the standard dual width C2075 as part of the product line since the C2075 was released by nVidia. This new offering now further shrinks the C2075 to a single PCIe card bay.
Crystal Group has created a unique water cooled jacket heat sink allowing up to five GP/GPU cards to reside in a single 3U appliance. This design is modular and can accommodate one, two, three, four, or five C2075 cards. This development allows a greater compute density to be achieved with up to 2560 GFLOPS double precision performance and 2240 cores in 4 inches of width in a standard 3U PCIe card expansion system.
Crystal Group is able to provide this card set to a customer who prefers to provide their own chilled water supply or Crystal Group can provide a rugged 2U water to air heat exchanger system, the RC215. The RC215 system is capable of dissipating 1200 Watts to a 55°C ambient environment. It contains sensors interfacing to an LCD readout monitoring flow rate and fluid temperature. This design concept has been successfully tested in the lab as well as Yuma Proving Ground trials.
"Crystal Group is experienced in ruggedizing this Cuda coding platform whether air cooled or using our enhanced performance water jacket cooled module. Potentially we could gang 20 C2075 cards in a 19" rack mounted system if a suitable back plane were available," comments Technical Director Brian Rinehart.
