Crystal Group's SS16 Rugged Sealed Server Honored with Military Embedded Systems Editor's Choice Award
Hiawatha, IA – Crystal Group Inc., an employee-owned small business and designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-designed computers, displays, networking devices, embedded systems, and storage devices is pleased to announce it has been awarded Military Embedded Systems' Editor's Choice Award in the October issue for its rugged, fully sealed, small form factor server, the SS16.
The SS16 Sealed Server offers all aluminum construction with custom EMI gasketing to seal the server chassis. I/O is facilitated through quick locking mil-circular connectors. Convection cooling enables an extended temperature range of -40C up to +55C. Cold-plate mounting is available for higher temperature environments. The SS16 offers immersion protection rated to IP68. The SS16 weighs less than 21 lbs. and is a free convection designed unit.
"The SS16 was developed to enhance the capabilities of our SS11 unit. We had some customers that were looking to increase the storage space, improve the computational density, and expand the I/O capabilities without increasing the package size", indicates Jim Shaw, Executive Vice President of Engineering. " We redesigned the hard drive bays on the SS16 to now accept up to six 2.5" SSD or three drives and a capacitive hold-up circuit for vehicle voltage sag," comments Shaw. "The SS16 was designed to be in the most hostile deployed environments."
As always, each Crystal product comes with a standard three-year warranty. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available. Configuration Management is also available upon request.
