Hiawatha, IA February 22nd, 2010 - Crystal Group Inc., a veteran-owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-designed computers, displays, networking devices, embedded systems, and storage devices is pleased to announce the newest addition to the Crystal Group product family, the TCM2: Tactical Computing Module.

In environments where performance, ruggedness, and reliability are imperative, the TCM2 is an ideal fit. This embedded module is designed for Military shipboard, airborne, and land-based applications.

As part of Crystal Group's TCM family, the TCM2 is a small footprint (11" x 12.75" x 3"), high performance embedded computer. The TCM2 is designed to operate in extreme environments, offering expended capabilities with a temperature range of -40 to +65C and 7.18 GRMSof random vibration. This module offers a standard 10-36VDC power supply allowing it run on conventional +12V vehicle power or +24/28VDC, as you'd see in many military applications. It also comes with MIL-STD-461E filtering, allowing it to be integrated into existing platforms without disrupting nearby sensitive electronics.

The TCM2 offers a high performance, dual-core 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 8GB of RAM, low profile PCIe expansion capabilities, and two 2.5" rotational or solid-state hard drives. The TCM2 can also be configured with up to 8 additional 2.5" rotational or solid-state hard drives with the addition of a bolt-on expansion base. This effectively allows the TCM2 to offer up to 4.8TB of rotational hard drive storage or 1.28TB of SSD storage in a very small footprint; suitable for rugged embedded computing. The TCM2 also comes equipped with Military Circular MIL-C-26482 connectors, setting it apart from the existing TCM line.

The TCM2 was designed with the intention of expanding on the versatility of the TCM1. With an added PCIe expansion port and options for removable storage media we were able to greatly increase the capabilities of the TCM while still keeping the overall unit light weight and compact,"stated Craig Irving, Crystal Group's Senior Systems Engineer.

As always, each Crystal product comes with a standard three-year warranty. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available. Configuration Management is also available upon request.
