Hiawatha, IA (June 2nd, 2010) - Crystal Group Inc., a veteran-owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-designed computers, displays, networking devices, embedded systems, and storage devices is pleased to announce it's continued dedication to providing top quality industrial and military communication solutions. In an effort to provide enhanced server capabilities Crystal Group proudly announces the newest addition to the Crystal Group server family, the IS100- Rugged Industrial Server.
The IS100 1U Server is the first product in Crystal’s new Rugged Industrial Server line. The IS100 will be replacing Crystal’s current Industrial line, while complimenting their existing Rugged RS line. The IS line will target customers that are looking for something less rugged than the RS line, but will still offer superior performance and reliability.
Jim Shaw, Vice President of Engineering at Crystal Group stated:
Launching the Industrial Server (IS) line at this point gives Crystal Group an opportunity to update our CS product line with a platform that is computationally equivalent to our highly successful Rugged Server (RS) series. The IS line gives us a chance to compete in the less rugged markets but at a significantly more affordable price than the competition. The IS line differs from our RS line in two major areas, ruggedness and ability to customize. While I would put our IS line up against any of our competitors’ products, it is not bullet-proof like the Crystal Rugged Server series. Hey, let’s face it, not everyone needs a server you can run over with a Deuce and a half. Crystal Group’s IS100 was designed for just those industrial applications.
This industrial server offers extended capabilities with a shock/vibe rating designed to 1.5 GRMS, in combined wheeled vehicle and aircraft profiles, and a temperature range of –30oC up to 75oC (-22oF to 165oF). The IS100 is available with the Intel® 5500 series, socket 1366 LGA architecture and features embedded dual, quad, and hexa core CPU technology. Expansion choices in this short depth (20 inches) industrial server include one full-height, 3/4 length slot, meaning greater adaptability. An option of two 2.5” or 3.5” drives, or four 2.5” drives and a slimline CD/DVD are available. These drives are removable and hot swappable.

The IS is designed to meet MIL-STD-810 and currently tested to FCC class A emission requirements. The new IS unit provides an outstanding value proposition for the targeted industrial market.
As always, each Crystal product comes with a standard three-year warranty. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available. Configuration Management is also available upon request.
