Hiawatha, IA (April 8th, 2010)- Crystal Group Inc., a veteran-owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-designed computers, displays, networking devices, embedded systems, and storage devices is pleased to announce the newest addition to the Crystal Group product family, the RS101x2 Rugged Dual Server. In environments where performance, ruggedness, and reliability are imperative, the RS101x2 is an ideal fit. This rugged server is designed for Military shipboard, airborne, and land-based applications, where virtualization is not possible or practical.
The RS101x2 unit contains two Penryn computers in a single chassis. The rugged 1U Dual Server offers extended capability with a shock/vibe rating of 4.43GRMS in combined wheeled vehicle and aircraft profiles, and a temperature range of –40oC up to 55oC (-40oF to131oF). The RS101x2 is available with Intel® CPU architecture: 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile, Penryn T9400, Socket P, micro-FCPGA478. Expansion choices in this short depth (18 inches) rugged dual server include one slot per side: Mini-PCIe, 1XSD, and Mini PCI, meaning greater adaptability. Each side offers one external 3.5” bay, capable of 1-2 removable 2.5” SATA HDDs for up to four drives total in each server.

The RS101x2 is incredibly dense, in a 4U 20” deep transit case it is now possible to fit 8 standalone machines. This eight way workstation solution remains lightweight enough for a single person to setup and deploy without issue,” stated Chip Thurston, Crystal Group’s Technical Director.
As always, each Crystal product comes with a standard three-year warranty. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available. Configuration Management is also available upon request.
