Hiawatha, IA (August 25th, 2009)- Crystal Group Inc., a veteran-owned small business, designer and manufacturer of rugged, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, today released vibration test results for their TCM1 (Tactical Computing Module).

Recently conducted vibration testing in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-810G showed that the TCM1 has no significant natural (resonance) frequencies below 461 Hz in the vertical axis, 720 Hz in the lateral axis, and 2000 Hz in the longitudinal axis.” The lack of significant low frequency resonances is an indication of the ability of the TCM1 to survive the low frequency vibrations inherent in mobile vehicles, even though it was designed for both mobile and airborne platforms." commented Richard Ridenour, Crystal Group's Lead Compliance Engineer.

The TCM1 was tested in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-810G, Method 514.6, utilizing a composite profile that incorporated the Tracked Vehicle, phase V5 profile from MIL-STD-810E and the
C-130J, C-17, C-5, C-135 & KC-10 aircraft profiles from MIL-STD-810G.The composite profile was a random-on-random profile extending from 5 Hz to 2000 Hz with a resultant RMS value of 7.18 g . The testing was done for duration of 60 minutes per axis, in each of the three axes.

The TCM1 was also shock tested in accordance with Method 516.6 of MIL-STD-810G. The terminal peak sawtooth pulses were 20 g, 11 msec for the Functional Shock test and 40 g, 11 msec for the Crash Hazard shock test.

In environments where performance, ruggedness, compact size, and reliability are imperative, the TCM1 is an ideal fit. The TCM1 offers extended capability with a temperature range of –40°C up to 65°C (-40°F to 141°F) and a 12V/24V DC power option that is MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MILSTD-1275 compliant. The TCM1 is available with the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo/ Core Solo processor. This short depth (12.75 inches) module features up to two rotational or solid state 2.5” SATA II HDDs and an expansion option of one mini PCle slot and one mini PCI slot. The TCM1 was designed for embedded shipboard, airborne, and land-based applications.

As always, each Crystal product comes with a standard three-year warranty. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available. Configuration Management is also available upon request.
