Hiawatha, Iowa, USA – Crystal Group Inc., a trusted manufacturer of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, announced today the expansion of its Hiawatha, Iowa facility with an additional 10,000 square feet of production capacity. The company, located at 850 Kacena Road, expanded this past weekend into a building located across the street from the current plant in Hiawatha.
“We were fortunate to secure additional production capacity within walking distance of our headquarters allowing us to grow our business without any interruption in service,” said Mike Kruger, Vice President of Operations for Crystal Group. “As demand for Crystal Group products continues to grow, this additional production capacity will help us answer that demand.”
Crystal Group moved its CNC machines (Computer Numerical Control) and other equipment into the new building along with machine operators and programmer employees. Vacated space created in the existing production facility will be configured for additional assembly lines. The new facility space is fully functional and incorporates the latest process improvements to increase production and improve efficiencies to better serve customers.
The company’s first rugged devices were introduced in 1991. Since then Crystal Group has undergone expansions to meet product demand; now nearly doubling the size of its original facility and employing a staff of more than 110 people.
