HIAWATHA, IOWA, Oct. 19, 2023 — Crystal Group, Inc., a trusted designer and manufacturer of rugged high-performance edge compute solutions, sponsored the commissioning ceremony for the USS Hyman G. Rickover, the United States’ newest fast-attack, nuclear-powered submarine.
The USS Rickover is the 22nd Virginia-class submarine commissioned by the U.S. Navy and is the second submarine honoring U.S. Navy Adm. Hyman G. Rickover who has been titled as the “Father of the Nuclear Navy”.
This submarine continues the legacy and dominance of undersea warfare established by the U.S. Navy’s nuclear-powered submarine program nearly seven decades ago.
“As a reactor operation and Naval Reactor engineer, I saw firsthand the legacy of technical competence and operational excellence created by Adm. Rickover,” said Chad Hutchinson, VP of Engineering at Crystal Group. “That legacy lives on in this new Virginia-class submarine that bears his name.”
